Baja Whales

A narrow strip of desert, bristling with cactus, cleaves the Pacific Ocean, the sea that separates it from its origins, the burning Desert of Sonora, has an extraordinary rich natural life.
We are in the Sea of Cortèz, and the desert peninsula is the Baja California, which from january to april becomes a haven for whale-watching.
In shallow and calm waters of the lagoons, the California gray whale ( Eschrichtius robustus ) give birth to their young, while the crystal clear waters of the Sea of Cortèz shows the largest living creature, the Blue Whale ( Balaenoptera musculus ).
The world’s oceans were once filled with wales, today the sight of a whale blowing on the horizon is sadly rare, except perhaps in the beautiful waters that surround the Baja Penisula- a sight to be cherished.
